What is Morbid And Miserable Records?
Morbid And Miserable Records is a record label and distro focusing on heavy metal and punk rock. It was started in 2020 by Jason Wilcox and Brandon Collins and is based out of Toledo, Ohio, USA. It is a small operation run by two people in their spare time — set your expectations accordingly.
Where can I buy your music?
The easiest places to buy a Morbid And Miserable release are through our Bandcamp page or our online store. Other distros and record stores sporadically stock our releases in limited quantities. We also appear at festivals, shows, and events throughout the Midwest — keep an eye on our newsfeed for a schedule.
Is all of this music local?
Sometimes! We give preferential treatment to musicians in our area (Toledo and the Midwest in general), but we work with artists all over the world.
Why is international shipping so expensive?
We don’t know! We do our best to keep prices on international shipping as low as possible, but rates are set by the post office and/or shipping service and we have no control over it. The best way to save on shipping is to encourage a distro or record store in your area to reach out to us for wholesale. Once they buy copies from us you can get copies from them.
I want a copy of this album but it’s sold out. Will you guys be pressing more?
Generally speaking, we are open to pressing more copies of our sold out albums. However, there are two caveats: a) the artist has to be onboard and b) there has to be public demand. If you’re interested in a sold out album, please reach out and let us know so that we’re aware of public demand. There’s also a slight chance we might be able to point you towards another distro or record store that has copies in stock. If enough people reach out, we’ll work with the artist and see what we can do.
Are you guys accepting demos? Will you sign my band?
We are always accepting demos and are interested in hearing your music! However, before you submit your music, there are a few things we would like to request:
– Send your submission via email. It is much easier for us to manage requests that way.
– Only send metal, punk, and related music. We do love other kinds of music, but we do not have the necessary knowledge or resources for other genres.
– Tell us what formats you are interested in having us release (CD, cassette, vinyl).
– Tell us if you have specific dates or timelines in mind — especially if you’re trying to have an album ready before tour dates or other big events.
– Let us know if you’re working with any other record labels already. We’re happy to collaborate, but we’d like to know in advance.
– Be nice. We are two people who do this for fun. If you’re an asshole then it’s not fun and we don’t want to work with you.
I’m an artist. Do you need artwork?
No, probably not. When we need artwork, we start sourcing it immediately. There’s never really a period when we’re waiting for an artist to reach out to us. No offense, your artwork is probably cool, but if you send us a message asking us to buy your art or commission you for a project, we will probably ignore you.
Do you offer wholesale?
Absolutely! In general, all of our in stock releases on our Bandcamp page are available at a wholesale rate, but we can provide an updated list upon request. Please send us an email detailing what you’re interested in, how many copies, and what country you’re located in. We’ll send you the price and shipping cost at our wholesale rates. No commitments and no hard feelings if you’re not satisfied with the price.
I have a record label / distro / band. Would you be interested in a trade?
Yes! We love trades. Please send us an email with what you have available and we’ll send one in return. In general, all of our in stock releases on our Bandcamp page are available for trade, along with a few other overstock items.
I have a zine / blog / radio program / YouTube channel / etc. Can you send me music? Can you add me to your press list?
Yes! Please send us an email with your name and a brief description of what you do and we’ll add you to our press contact list! We send out promotional materials about six weeks before an album release, and can provide supplementary details as necessary.
I have a weird idea. Do you want to collaborate?
Yes! We like weird ideas. Please tell us about what you have in mind and we’ll see if we can work together!
